07 SEP 2007 – KOMODO CMS ENHANCED AFTER THOROUGH SECURITY REVIEW
|
All Komodo CMS Version 4 installations have received new security patches following an independent security audit by a leading internet penetration testing firm.
|
In June 2007, thanks to the assistance of our client the Audit Quality Review Board (AQRB) - www.aqrb.org.au and our partner CompliSpace - www.complispace.com.au, the Komodo CMS software platform was thoroughly tested by an independent assessor. The tests were designed to examine the resilience of Komodo CMS against malicious attacks and the strength of Komodo CMS security measures. Komodo CMS is pleased to report that the tests demonstrated the strength of Komodo CMS Version 4 against malicious attacks. Recommendations were made to further strengthen the security of Komodo CMS and we are also pleased to report that all Version 4 installations have been upgraded with these additional security measures.
The independently commissioned review of Komodo CMS means that the Komodo CMS web publishing platform is one of very few that can claim a tested level of security suitable for confidential information stored in Intranet and Extranet environments, including the type of Business Process and Compliance information that is the domain of online compliance specialist - CompliSpace, who in September 2007 have launched their ground-breaking Anti-Money Laundering (AML) module.
Komodo CMS will continue to ensure that its web publishing platform remains secure and delivers world-leading web publishing outcomes. In March 2008, Version 5 will offer further enhancements to both product functionality, expansion options, inbuilt standards compliance and web security features.
Please contact Rodney Way at Komodo CMS (rodney@komodocms.com) if you would like more information on the security audit and the resulting security modifications.
Komodo CMS would like to thank AQRB and CompliSpace for their assistance in the security improvement process. Please remember that regardless of security initiatives it is critical that you protect your access details and passwords to ensure the ongoing security of your system.

|
In late 2006, Komodo CMS won a competitive tender to provide Nufarm Limited with a number of corporate sites, including some custom functionality that resulted in a pilot program. Nufarm outlines their decision making process and the reasons for selecting Komodo CMS for their web content management requirements.
The article was published in MIS Magazine on Friday, January 26, 2007, under the title Small fish in a big pond. The article makes for interesting reading and you can hear more about the Nufarm experience on page 3.

13 NOV 2006 – KOMODO CMS CERTIFIED FOR IE7 AND FIREFOX 2
|
 |
October 2006 saw the release of major updates to the two most popular web browsers — Internet Explorer and Firefox. Both releases have introduced enhancements that will improve the performance of Komodo CMS for both editors and site visitors.
Komodo CMS Version 3 installations worked immediately with both releases, due largely to the focus on web standards shared by both the web browsers and the Komodo CMS development team. As is always the case with major upgrades, there were some minor transition issues that needed to be addressed. Komodo CMS has completed a minor product patch to all Version 3 installations and has completed testing of both Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 2, certifying these browsers as suitable editing access points for Komodo CMS editors, publishers and administrators.
Both new browsers have significant enhancements and we recommend that you update your browser as soon as convenient. Downloads and product information can be found on the respective websites – www.microsoft.com and www.mozilla.com.
Just as a quick indication of some of the benefits, IE7 now offers tabbed browsing and improved page printing and Firefox 2 includes inbuilt spell-checking and speed enhancements. Good reasons to upgrade now and Komodo CMS will ensure that your website remains consistent and compatible as future browser upgrades are released.

28 AUG 2006 – THE BLACK ART OF WEB PUBLISHING
|
 |
Throughout history, the term — Black Art — has been used to describe activities that are complex and uncertain, often containing aspects of both science and art. During the Victorian Era, the designation Black Art was commonly applied to typesetting and later to printing. Perhaps typesetting and printing are still ‘Black Arts’, however in this millennium, they are joined by new media publishing.
At the invitation of the Design Business Council, Komodo CMS Director, David Warwick presented on the Black Art of Web Publishing at the Centre for Innovation and Technology Commercialisation (CITC), 257 Collins Street, Melbourne. The presentation was an updated reprise of the Open Publish seminar and addressed themes of web design, structure, navigation, standards, web writing, SEO, usability, strategy, audience, workflow and of course, web content management.
Komodo CMS, the Design Business Council and the CM Pros organisation are committed to improved communication in emerging media channels and this free seminar was provided to lift the quality of web publishing by design professionals in Melbourne. Komodo CMS is launching a pro bono website containing related content as an information source for anyone active in the creation of web content and related publishing activities.

28 JUL 2006 – OPEN PUBLISH - AUSTRALIA'S LEADING CM CONFERENCE
|
 |
Open Publish has grown to become Australia's defacto Content Management mecca. In 2005, the Content Management conference stream and assembly of CM experts led to the formation of the Australian Chapter of the international Content Management Professionals (CM Pros) organisation.
In 2006, content management had grown to become the core thread of the three-day Open Publish conference, with many familiar faces and many Content Management Professionals' members presenting papers on CM topics of interest. Komodo CMS Director, David Warwick, presented a holistic paper on 'The Black Art of Web Publishing', covering the elements that make the discipline complex and unique.
On the Wednesday evening, the CM Pros Australia Community (CMPAC) held its first anniversary meeting, in conjunction with Open Publish, running a discussion panel on Workflow. Brendan Quinn, content management guru at the BBC, sat on the panel and followed the next day as keynote speaker for Open Publish and gave everyone insight into the content management challenges at the BBC. Other panelists included Australian CM expert, James Robertson as well as Matthew Moore, Marius Coomans and Melanie Kendell. Attended by more than twenty-five content professionals, the CMPAC meeting and Open Publish conference that followed confirmed Australia's place as a leading international player in content management disciplines.
